Summary0001636: If a player hosts the game has random lag spikes
DescriptionOf up to 30 seconds or more. I am not the only one having this issue. Autohosts and relay hosts are not affected.

Worked fine in .79 and yes, my ports are forwarded correctly :-)

Most likely your connection isn't good enought.

Really?

Last Result:
Download Speed: 27966 kbps (3495.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 940 kbps (117.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

The up is actually 1.5 mbps, but the files on test sites are never large enough for the speed meter to make it all the way up to 1.5

FYI, It's not jsut me.

[02:13:02] <[LCC]Google_Frog[CA]> is it possible to play in real time yet?
[02:25:32] <[LCC]Google_Frog[CA]> real time
[02:25:58] <[LCC]Google_Frog[CA]> as in instead of giving orders in about 30 seconds of pause then watching them all execute in 5 seconds
[02:27:24] <[LCC]Google_Frog[CA]> well if noone else hosts it's not possible to play in real time
[02:30:24] <[LCC]Google_Frog[CA]> I mean instead of the RTS TBS meld that is playing when you host

I'll reiterate. Something in between .79 - .80 broke it. I understand that that is a heck of a lot of stuff to sift through. As I mentioned earlier, it doesn't affect bots, and considering the the vast majority of games are played on autohosts, it's not exactly surprising that you haven't had a major outcry.

I should also mention that this is on a 100% clean spring install. Barebones installer, the installer I made... Makes no difference, the result is the same.

Windows 7 BTW.

Player hosts aren't much different from dedicated ones, so if it works for one, its not broken.

The only possible issue I can think of is some threading stuff: do you have a multicore? is spring restricted to only one? If yes, try to disable please.

Forboding Angel (reporter)

Yes I do, and no it isn't. Hasn't ever caused issues before, but maybe something changed in the way spring works or something. I'll restrict it and report back.

Some things to check if you have the time:
* Meter the network usage, does it goes to zero when lagging? Or goes it crazy?
* Do you also lag, or are it just the other players who connected to you?
* Does that also happens for LAN games?

~0004086

Auswaschbar (reporter)

No, I asked to disable the restriction if you have it enabled ;)

Should be fixed with latest rework.
